WHERE: Lady Beaverbrook Gym - 1st Floor - Main Gym
COST: FREE !
We are very excited to introduce what we expect will become one of the biggest traditions on campus: the first annual Duel of the Hill: Residence vs. Residence.
Like the original event (2010), participants must have no prior fencing experience. In preparation for their challenge, each residence’s participant will undergo one hour of training in fencing safety and basic skills before taking to the piste to duel for the honour of their residence, with one residence ultimately emerging as champion!
Rules
All challengers must register by the deadline indicated below.
Each residence may register multiple challengers.
Challengers must have no prior fencing experience. All participants will receive one hour of training in fencing safety and basic skills before the public event - to be scheduled after the close of registration. All equipment will be provided.
This event is intended to be an exciting and fun experience for everyone involved. To ensure a level playing field, challengers must not seek coaching or instruction from anyone in their residence, or elsewhere, who has prior fencing experience. In the future, once we have experienced fencers in all residences, we'll explore introducing a new skill level to the competition.
Personalized awards will be presented to both the champion and their residence, with the residence’s award to be proudly displayed in the residence for years to come.

Duel of the Hill / The Mayor's Challenge (2010)
The debut Duel of the Hill event was held in 2010. It featured duels between the Editors and Sports Editors of the UNB and STU student newspapers, as well as representatives from the Student Unions, Athletic Departments, and more. It also featured the The Mayor’s Challenge, which made news around the world thanks to the entertaining pre-event rivalry between the participants from Fredericton and France.
